# Understanding the Sezzle Transaction Report

> What every worksheet and column in your Sezzle Transaction Report means, how funds reach your bank, and how to trace an order.

The Transaction Report details all the financial transactions for your store that occur within Sezzle: orders, refunds and disputes, as well as settlements and withdrawals from your Sezzle account to your company's bank account.

> **Trace an order**
>
> Confirm you received the funds for a specific order, step by step.

> **Understand your payouts**
>
> How orders become settlements, withdrawals, and deposits to your bank.

> **Look up a worksheet**
>
> What every tab and column in your report means, in plain language.

## Overview

The report includes a variety of worksheets (tabs) to help organize the data for easier reconciliation. Depending on your store's integration with Sezzle, you may not have all the worksheets listed in this guide.

### How funds flow

For most Sezzle merchants, funds are paid out in three stages:

> **1. Orders**
>
> Orders become Settlements (Payouts).

> **2. Settlements**
>
> Settlements become Withdrawals.

> **3. Withdrawals**
>
> Withdrawals are sent to your linked bank account.

Trace these stages in the report: Orders → Withdrawal Account Ledger (or the Interest Account Ledger if you're on the Interest Plan).

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Report file naming.** Previously the report was appended with the generation date. It now includes the *from* and *to* dates of the data in the report.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Split by shopper currency.** The Orders, Virtual Card Orders, Captured Orders Breakdown, Refunds, Disputes, Withdrawal Account Ledger, and Interest Account Ledger worksheets are split by shopper currency. If your store had orders paid in both USD and CAD within the requested period, you'll see two sheets instead of one, for example "Orders - USD" and "Orders - CAD".

### Disputes

NewDirect IntegrationVirtual CardsDashboard: DisputesSplit by shopper currency

* Contains every dispute opened within the report's date range, both open and closed. Each row is one dispute, sorted by **Dispute Open Date** (newest first).
* The date range applies to the **Dispute Open Date**, so a dispute appears in the report for the period it was opened, even if the order was placed earlier.
* Directly corresponds to the “Disputes” page within the Sezzle dashboard, where you can respond to a dispute (**Manage Dispute**) or issue a refund.
* While a dispute is open, the shopper’s installment payments on that order are paused. Only one active dispute can exist on an order at a time.
* If you resolve a dispute by issuing a refund, the refund also appears on the Refunds worksheet.

| Column title | Purpose |
| - | - |
| **Order Date** | Date the shopper placed the disputed order |
| **Sezzle Order ID** | Order ID created by Sezzle — the same ID shown as “Order ID” on the Disputes page Matches the **Sezzle Order ID** column on the Orders worksheet (not the Sezzle Order UUID), so you can use it to look up the order |

| **Order Amount** | Total of the original order in the shopper's currency — not the amount under dispute Shown without a currency symbol (for example, 1,234.50); the currency is in the sheet name, such as “Disputes - USD” |
| **Dispute Status** | Current status of the dispute, using the same labels as the Disputes page: Action Required · Processing · Dispute Closed See the dispute status key below for what each status means and what to do |

#### Dispute status key

| Status | What it means |
| - | - |
| Action Required | **Sezzle needs your response.** Use **Manage Dispute** on the Disputes page to submit evidence, tracking information or comments, or issue a refund, before the response deadline. If you don't respond in time, the dispute can be ruled in the shopper's favor. |
| Processing | **Sezzle is working on the dispute.** For example, it's waiting on the shopper for more information or reviewing the evidence. This includes disputes that have been reopened. No action is needed from you right now. |
| Dispute Closed | **The dispute has been resolved.** Select **View Closed Dispute** on the Disputes page to see the details. |

A closed dispute ends in one of these outcomes:

> **Ruled in your favor**
>
> The shopper's claim wasn't upheld, and payments resume normally.

> **Ruled in the shopper's favor**
>
> You're responsible for the refund amount.

> **Sezzle absorbs the cost**
>
> No financial impact on you.

> **Mutual resolution**
>
> All parties reached an agreeable outcome, such as after a voluntary refund.

## Troubleshooting

### Tracing an order

**1. Find the Reference ID**

Find the order ID in your e-commerce system. That becomes the **Reference ID** within this report. If you can't find the order, it was most likely created outside the report data range.

**2. Check the settlement status**

Locate the order by its Reference ID in the Orders sheet, then look at the **Settlement Status** and **Settlement Date**. Status **Completed** means you've received all of the funds for that order. To trace them in detail, copy the **Order ID**, an internal Sezzle ID for the order.

**3. Search the ledger**

Go to either the Withdrawal or Interest Ledger, depending on where you're set up to receive your settlements, and search for all transactions with that order ID.

**4. Do the math**

The total of all credit **Order** transactions minus the total of all debit **Sezzle Fee** transactions with the given order ID is the amount you've been paid for that order in the selected time period.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **On the Interest Plan?** Orders processed into the Interest Plan are added to the total balance of the Interest Account, which is then manually withdrawn. Those funds go to a pool of money that isn't immediately transacted with your bank account, so you won't be able to trace orders directly to a bank transaction. You can still trace how much money is in your interest account for any given order: follow the steps above, but select the Interest Ledger instead of the Withdrawal Ledger. All transactions found for a given Order ID reflect the amount received in your interest account for that order.

### Date mismatches

Due to time zones, there is a chance that the order date within Sezzle may not be the exact date within your e-commerce system. All time stamps in the transaction data report are in UTC. If you cannot find an order on the date expected, search for the order by the ID from your e-commerce platform, as that will be the **Reference ID** within the report.

### Manual capture

If you are on manual capture, each payment comes in as an **authorization**. You must capture the payment to get paid. When you capture a payment authorization, the order will be fulfilled. If you do not capture the payment authorization, the funds will be held for up to seven days. You have **seven days to capture**; if you do not, the funds will be released.
